The game journalism and indie development scenes are so corrupt and full of douchebags you could easily write a Neo-noir story there.

Among other sites. It seems you get flown around the globe and showered with iPads if you shill the right games hard enough.

Heh, my guess is that Mr. Glow isn't a fan of Zoe Quinn.
*Looks at his own post like it was an M-100 ready to go off, jaw drops, wonders what he's done, and runs the fuck away*

I'm definitely not a fan, but what really got me was Eurogamer saying nothing throughout the entire controversy, then posting an article titled "Why We Need More People Like Zoe Quinn". It's quite cynical of me, but I think that site's writer's care more about the sweet, sweet clicks those sort of articles will bring, rather than actually making a point about anything.

Yeah. I talked to Till about her. She's definitely not a fan. I myself ain't too sympathetic either, I mean, as far as gals getting attention in the gaming world, I like Anita Sarkeiseen (if only for the fact that she shed light on many characters, both female and male being poorly written as fuck by the idiots who write the stories for games nowadays), but Quinn kinda rubs me the wrong way. Though I still don't know how much information is true on either side. The internet has created "experts" on everything, and there's a lot of info to go around, and nobody knows what's true or not. I certainly don't. I certainly don't trust 4chan, but then again, I never have. I will follow up with this and say; term "Gamer" is a fucking antiquated early 2000's term for many reasons, and "Gamer culture" is generally pretty stupid as fucking shit. This article pretty much nails what I feel about the whole situation: badassdigest.com/2014/08/31/why-i-feel-bad-for-and-understand-the-angry-gamergate-gamers/Though I will admit, I dunno why this guy bothered to argue with people on twitter. Site's a goddamn cesspool of rancid vitriol and bullshit. Also the quote "My ancestry gives me both the focused venom of Sicilians and the volcanic, easily provoked anger of the Irish, and that’s an awful combination" really rubs me the wrong way.

Devin Farici is a massive prick in his own right. He's stooped to lows in his twitter rants with just about anyone about everything that would make 4chan cringe. Comparing his opponents in this to ISIS and then standing by it. Now apparently he's doing the same with the KKK and the Confederacy. He's a troll, ignore him and move on. I'd take his "analysis" with a grain of salt. Of course he's a much better human being that that pair of human trash Jordan Owens and Davis Aurini (who seems to be deliberately trying to make himself look like Kane from the C&C games) that have been arguing against him. But make no mistake, when Farici gets it wrong, which is a lot of the time, he refuses to admit it and will back up his wrong position to his his dying breath. The only reason I kept up on this shit at all was because sooner or later I knew it would make it's way here. Fact is, I really don't know what the issue here is. The heart of this nonsense seems to be that this woman slept around a bit. In some of these cases it was with mucky mucks in the larger gaming journalism sites. Far as I know, none of her partners were actually writing about her game directly in the wake of her trysts with them. Nathan Grayson for example did not write about her game or anything about her at all after they got together. Just about everything else I have seen is an indecipherable furrball of he said/she said and I am not in the fucking mood to untangle it. TotalBiscuit has summed up my views on this matter perfectly and I can't help but agree with his (non)stance. www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1s4nmr1/?People to avoid the opinions of in this mess would probably be MovieBob Chipman, not because I think he's stupid, which I don't(this time) but mostly because he's got the blinders on big time, Farici, as he would not know responsible journalism if it bit him in the balls, anything from 4chan and any of the more prominent misogynist youtubers like those other 2 pricks up there or the Amazing Atheist. I was tempted to lump Anita Sarkesian in there too, but I have to admit that even though she does an absolutely horrible job of presenting her points she is right at least as often as she is wrong. I'm not going to accuse anyone here of being among the worst elements of the anti-Quinn crowd, but in my opinion a lot of the very worst bile being thrown is based in slut shaming. Take that element away and we have a far tamer case of of someone abusing their media contacts which happens all too often in publicity in all forms of media. Now I think after posting this I'll drop these few posts into R&P to isolate them while I'm at work today. Edit: I'm dropping this here as well as it's a very good read. Pretty easy to see that I have no dog in in this fight at the moment. www.gamerheadlines.com/2014/08/moving-forward-worst-week-gaming-whats-next/

It had to eventually make it's way here. This topic has severely divided and pissed off people the internet over these past 2 weeks. Please note that if this topic may draw in some outside opinion. It seems to be happening elsewhere. If something needs to be dealt with it will be by me otherwise have at it and for the love of fuck stay civil.

This is the first I'm hearing about it. TotalBiscuit (whoever he or she may be) sums up my view as well. DMCA takedowns not cool, False inflation / Gaming nepotism is the stupid shit that got DA 2 9 & 9.5 ratings, and it's not that big a deal.

Quite pleased by the fact that I have absolutely no clue what any of the above means. You have not missed much. tempest in a teapot and all that shit. It's not at all worth looking into, there were far worse gaming media shitstorms than this. This time it involves a woman and seeeexxxxx If that element was not there and if it did not involve a woman it would already have been forgotten it's that unimportant. Now what's important is how totally batshit insane the entire internet went over it.

Really? Holy shit, that's hilariously pathetic. Then again, I don't follow twitter accounts, almost at all, and I certainly don't follow twitter arguments either. Never heard of Farici until I read that article. But damn, that's some sad-ass shit.
It's one of those things where everyone involved is going to look back on it in ten years, shake their heads, and wonder why they were so incredibly stupid, going "Holy fuck, we did all that."

I have done some research and determined this:
1) The woman who made that indie game about depression that I read about but wasn't interested in may or may not have slept with people in order to publicise it. 2) She may or may not also have done something disruptive but non-specific at a gathering of some sort, the purpose of which baffles me. 3) There are some weird, weird, weird forums and some strange, strange, STRANGE men on the internet. And these men love the goss. 4) This all resulted in a debate about feminism, which I kind of lost track of. 5) I want some of that leftover pasta.
After this, the investigation lost some ground.

Feminism is a pretty hot topic right now on the net. Has been for a while and it always makes me pissed off how vicious it gets.

I had not heard of this guy or "Badass Digest" before I read that moviebob was really pumping him as breaking the issue down nicely in what is likely the last column of movieBob's i will ever read. he has been extremely childish in this thing as well. Essentially he said that the people who were arguing against Quinn were worse than the ISIS militants. Someone called him on his shit and he replied with , "let me know when you get a hair on your balls boy." beyond fucking pathetic. And quite in keeping with the level of maturity I would expect of an editor of something called "Badass Digest." When this sad sack of snot invoked his lineage to say that he was was "sorry" for all his bile and that his irish and Sicilian got the better of him I think he was talking about this shit.
