Ok.
I've become increasingly aware over the last few weeks, due to our sudden spurt in posting, that our off-topic section is getting a little... cluttered. A lot of threads are getting derailed, which is fine while theres just a handful of us posting, but if the site starts getting much bigger, will start to become a problem.
So, I was wondering about giving the site a little re-working, namely, to add more off-topic boards for specific areas of conversation (music, tv, art/writing etc) so that our single off-topic board can start being a little tidier and hopefully make the site more accessible to outsiders.
I wanted to ask what you guys thought of this plan. I know it'll make the place look a little barren for a while, but I think it may be better in the long run. I didn't want to make any changes without asking first.
So, please, cast your votes and we'll see what happens.

Go for it It's true that the fourms are very untidy and scattered at the moment. I don't think we have one that's still on topic. And yes, good point - that will put off new people.

Another thing I was thinking of doing was breaking up the FanFic section into blocks so they are sorted by letter. While there's very few there we could have it in three blocks (A-H, I-Q, R-Z), and then add more if it needs it. What do you guys think?

I don't like that, actually. There's no reason for them to be alphabetical. I think they'd be better in date order as they are, or grouped into genres.

Yeah, genres is a better idea, come to think of it. I just wanted some way to make it easier to find stuff, and I thought alphabetically because I love to alphabetise things.
I won't do that just yet, though. Let the dust settle from these changes, first.

Perhaps a minor tweak to make links more visible would be in order? Right now they're completely indistinguishable from text unless hovered over.

Yes, please (re the invisible links). I think some more structure to the off topic section would be very welcome too.

Ok, I've changed the colour of links. Unfortunately (I think this is way I changed it back last time I got annoyed with it), it changes the colour of *every* link, including, as you'll notice, the ones on the homepage and in every board.
Let me know if I should keep the changes, or change it back.

Do you use css for the boards' appearance? If so, it's possible to have different classes for links, so that the ones pointing to different forum sections won't be affected.

Custom Style Sheets. I'm guessing that can't be done with these boards.

I believe they solely use HTML.
