TIMELINE: 10:00 PM, A Few Months Prior - Cali tries to boot up the steam copy of Mass Effect, no luck as it doesn't work. 7:00 PM, Less than a few months prior - Cali tries the same thing several times, but is too lazy to find the exact problem. He has many more things to play after all. 10:00 PM, June, 2014 - Cali finds the problem, reading up on a fix and fixes it. He's still high on his Elder Scrolls canon fixation, so it's unlikely he actually will follow through to Mass Effect. 10:30 PM, July 11, 2014 - Cali decides to boot up Mass Effect Not a moment later - Cali hears this song for the first time in forever in the menu, and starts crying. A few moments after that - Cali decides when he's less of a melancholy pussy he'll finish the Mass Effect series that he left off at the third installment this time, even though he may severely regret it. It doesn't matter. He decides the date for finishing it is labeled SOON.

Not a moment later - Cali hears this song for the first time in forever in the menu, and starts crying. Well, I must say, I can't blame you... the Mass Effect soundtrack (for all three games) is fantastic and usually makes me tear up as well. If I am in any way in a melancholy mood, I can't even listen to the song "An End Once and For All" without weeping copious amounts of tears, that song is just so beautiful. I remember when Linders was playing Mass Effect 3 long before I actually acquired the game on my own computer, and he got to the part where this music was playing, and I said "Is that composed by the same guy who composed the music for the movie "The Fountain"? As it turns out, it was - Clint Mansell, composer extrordinaire... And just because it's such a lovely song, here it is in all its glory - in two beautiful forms. The original soundtrack, and my favorite YouTube violinist and pianist teaming up for this song:

I'm a big fan of the music in all three games too. Especially 'An End Once And For All' and the big rousing Suicide Mission theme. I love the Blade Runner-ish electronic stuff going on in most of them too.

The music in the trilogy is amazing. Hell I still like the 2nd game the most because it felt more like an criminal underworld/Bladerunner esque vibe then a galaxy saving game. Dont get me wrong I love the first Mass Effect but I adore Me2 for the crime stuff. Also Me3's war story is cool. To be honest I am kind of glad of the experience I had with the game and after two playthroughs, Male and Femshep, I had my fill. I had my experience, i had my moments and i;m okay to let it go. I might pick it up again in a few years time but until now i will forever love the moment I heard about Krogan riding cloned dinosaurs into battle...fuck me i love SF games.

I like that about the trilogy - the change in the feel. It's like you're a spy, a gangster, and then a general. Love that.

And it all made sense to in the greater scheme of things. Or it was at least plausible. Is it to much to say that Mass Effect is pretty much the SF experience you got to have done if you want to be called a true SF fan? It being in the same pillars of Alien(s)/Star Trek/Star Wars/Foundation series?

Videogame stories have never been comparable before, so it's really hard to say. I certainly think it's as good as some of those.

Farewell And Into The Inevitable from the Citadel DLC, always makes me wanna play the games again. Its a reminder of the great times we all had throughout the series. The Citadel DLC contains most of my favourite ME moments and this song always reminds me of them and the rest of the games.
