Goddamn, Herr. If only I had the tenacity, time, and patience to write as much as you.
I kinda wanna read this, if only for the effort (plus I wanna replay the Mass Effect series at some point), but I gotta ask: Will I have to play Beyond Two Souls and ME3 to get anything? I mean, the former, obviously, but since I'm not sure I'm gonna buy the game, is there a good Let's Play video series out there on the net?

Well, I think the requisite question is "will you have to read the fanfic Parallel Realities". TWFM will have a lot more to do with that than with ME3 (in fact, after a certain point, I won't be following the canon ME3 at all). I wouldn't recommend reading the whole thing, though, 'cause it's just incredibly stupid and boring to read through. You can read my snark of it at the Library if you're so inclined, and said snark also consistently contains links to all the chapters: literarytravesty.wordpress.com/category/mass-effect/parallel-realities/As for knowing the other canon involved... I'm generally going to drop in most of Jodie's backstory as related through Beyond: Two Souls. Though, if you really want, I hear there are plenty of Let's Plays of the game on YouTube (I know that PewDiePie did an LP of it, but... well, he's PewDiePie, do you really want all that shouting there when you're trying to hear what the characters are saying?): I think probably the best one would be the no-commentary LP by HassanAlHajry. You can probably find others, though. (Just a note: as I myself have mentioned, I do feel that it is a flawed game on a few levels. And as much as I like the story as a whole, there are some facets of it that I do take some issue with. So take that as a minor warning.)
