So this is still going on and it's inducing a Clint rant. What is the point of religious freedom, if a major faith is excluded from that "freedom" at every opportunity? Yeah, Christianity was predominant for a long time, but how is it fair to constantly demean it under the auspices of being "fair"? It's like saying to people from Philadelphia, "Well, the cheesesteak had it's day as favorite food, now everyone here has to like salads, because cheesesteak was popular for too long." Why not start from scratch and be fair then? But nooo, everyone's running for their lives from being labeled discriminatory, so Christian groups get the shaft.
This being said, I think Christians overreact to this (probably including the above paragraph). The Bible predicts far worse happening to Christians and we've been lucky in America to receive little to no persecution so far. This is very different from nations around the globe where Christians are tortured and killed for no other reason than being in a room with a bible.
On the specific topic of the WTC cross. It's a symbol. It's not an attack or example of favoritism. A couple beams happened to land that way, and it's nice that we can see them as special. Taking a bit of victory out of tragedy, say what? But no, it's offensive to hyper offended people who just can't abide for people to have a different opinion.
But all things considered, it's just a hunk of scarred metal. It does not affect my faith to see it up or down. Chances are the museum will have to stick it in a corner so no one hurts their feelings that no beams fell into the symbol of a question mark. It just really bothers me that A ) people are picking on it and B ) that it's such a big deal. Why do they care?
