I just want to comment on the astounding hypocrisy of Russia and the Sochi Olympics. Russia and their extreme anti-gay homophobia and oppression, and gay-hunting and what-not, and yet for some reason they've arranged for t.A.T.u (a Russian duo made up of two extremely attractive girls who play the Lesbian angle for all they're worth even though they're not actually a couple and Lena Katina is married to a man) to perform at the Opening stuff... *facepalm* Really? Why? Is it because it's "ok if they're hot girls and if they're only faking"? Hypocritical assholes. And another thing that pisses me off is girls who pretend to be lesbian only in order to titillate the male populace and / or to follow a fad.

There have always been that sect of anti-gay men that sploosh over the idea of lesbianism. It's selfish hypocrisy at it's apex.
Of course, I'm sorry, but I can't help but believe it's preferable to the idiotic MRAs/PUAs who hate lesbians because they're women who aren't attracted to men, and therefore won't have sex with them.

Neither version is preferable.
What would be preferable would be if the whole damn world would just accept that love is love and gender should play no role in it.
There are more than enough straight people in the world to keep the population going, so the reproduction angle is moot, and the way any given couple lives their life together has absolutely no bearing on how other people choose to live their lives. Just... let people be people, and things will be better.
EDIT: I apologise if I sound sad or sappy tonight, I'm not in the best of moods tonight...

I think I might get a pink dove tattoo on one of my forearms
I hate the fact that it's the same for anyone who doesn't fit (THE NORM)
What I found most hypocritical was the girl whos character name meant LOVE,
Acceptance something that hasn't been shown Peace none in a same sex relationship will get any

Sorry to sound cynical, but why should I be shocked? This is Russia we're talking about, right? This is completely unsurprising to me, especially since being gay was a one-way ticket to Siberia throughout the existence of the Soviet Union (except if you were a foreign national providing info to GRU or KGB). This is what baffles me about college communists. Every nation in history under a communist government has been every bit as racist and anti-gay as any facist regime. Saying communists are champions of egalitarianism is like saying crocodiles are less inclined to eat people than alligators. Another thing: What is it with anti-gays nowadays and the fact that they factlessly associate homosexuals with pedophiles? Most pedophiles turn out to be married men for Chrissake. You assume college Communists and the anti-gays are capable of understanding things like factual evidence, history, and so on. I assure you, they're incapable of comprehending such concepts. What solidified it with me was some asshat condemning the Third Reich, but promoting eugenics. Fathom the irony/hypocrisy of that one for a moment.

Russia is a special case I think.
After nearly being extinguished by communism, the Russian Orthodox Church (which makes even the most conservative of US churches seem like a pack of bronies by comparison) has more power and influence than ever. They don't like gays. Putin is playing along because it is far better for him for the people to be after gays than him. It always benefits those in power to have people go after an innocent third party than themselves. That goes for the church and Putin both in this case.
That's what it looks like to me at least.

I agree Linders but I'm worried about, what happens next if it doesn't change or stop,
It's a nasty thought

I just feel bad for all the people in Russia who are gay or bi or otherwise not falling in line with the rigid expectations of the area; I just hope things change so everyone can be safe. But... that kind of monumental change would take a long time to do...

Russia is a very frightening thing for me to see on the news, man. I had *just* about gotten used to the idea that the developed world was no longer putting gay people in prison and I had been lucky enough to be born just in time to not have to fight for rights.
Dreadful business. Of course Russia is hardly the only country in the world that horribly abuses its LGBT people still, but somehow this seems more of a shock.

It's not just Russia is starting to treat the LGBT like shit. India is reintroducing criminalising anyone who is not straight last december. IT's getting scary with the world starting to turn on the LGBT.

In a world where Iran and Saudi Arabia still execute their homosexuals, we still have a long ways to go worldwide even with Russia and India going at them. So the world still has a long way to go before we can get back to basics.

I think Till is referring to how some places had made some progress towards not being a pack of ruptured asses on this and have rolled back rights. There is a bit of a social conservative backlash against LGBT rights right now. Not all of it can be traced to religious fundamentalism but a lot of it can be. it looks like a defensive response from people who barely have enough brain wattage to run their heartbeats.
I see it on the Yahoo message boards all the time. The vast majority of comments are so full of bile and hatred I think I got my wires crossed and found my way to a youtube comment section for a Justin Beiber video.
