I hear the roar of a big machine Two worlds and in between Love lost, fire at will Dum-dum bullets and shoot to kill, I hear Dive, bombers, and Empire down Empire down
I hear the sons of the city and dispossessed Get down, get undressed Get pretty but you and me, We got the kingdom, we got the key We got the empire, now as then, We don't doubt, we don't take direction, Lucretia, my reflection, dance the ghost with me

Siiting up late at night I tiptoe through the darkness. Cold as hell, black as spades aware of my immediate surrounding.
In my place I escape Up into my hideout Hiding from everyone My friends all say "Dave, you're mental anyway." Hey!
Drift into a deeper state I stalk the cobwebbed stairways Dirt grits beneath my feet The stair creaks, I precariously sneak, yeah!

The water's edge / Is where she waits / Lost soul still wandering / Meant to die / But she's stuck not crossing over The other side / Is where he waits / His spirit reaching out / Meant to save / But she's too scared to take his hand Living in a world without you / (drowning in the past) / Is living in no world at all / So now I call on you Remember me? / I gave you life / You would not take it / Your suffering was all in vain / It's almost over now / Don't turn your back on paradise Feeling scared, she's prepared / To give up everything / She can't stand to feel like half of her is fading He will choose / the only way / To rid her of her pain / Take her soul now / The decision has been made Living in a world without love / (a burden to my soul) / Is living in a worthless world / So I will call on you... Remember me? / I gave you life / You would not take it / Your suffering was all in vain / It's almost over
Remember me? / You were so young / How could I tell you? / Remember me? / I am the one / Who saved your life that night I was the one who would not abandon you / Even in death I was the one who would not leave you
I used my freedom to protect you / And all the while direct you / Do you remember me this time? / Even in death I gave you life I gave you life I wanted to deserve a place / A place beside you / This time when I reached out my hand / It reached all the way to heaven Remember me? / I gave you life / You would not take it / Your suffering was all in vain / It's almost over now
Goodbye / It's almost over now / Goodbye It's time / I release you from this life / Don't turn your back on paradise...

It was a night like this forty million years ago I lit a cigarette, picked up a monkey, start to go The sun was spitting fire, the sky was blue as ice I felt a little tired, so I watched 'Miami Vice' I walked a dinosaur, I walked a dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur Boom boom acka lacka lacka boom Boom boom acka lacko boom boom Boom boom acka lacka lacka boom Boom boom acka lacko boom boom I met you in a cave, you were painting buffalo I said I'd be your slave, follow wherever you go That night we split a rattlesnake and danced beneath the stars You fell asleep, I stayed awake and watched the passing cars I walked a dinosaur, I walked a dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody walk the dinosaur One night I dreamed of New York You and I roasting blue pork In the Statue of Liberty's torch Elvis landed in a rocket, rocket, rocket ship Healed a couple of leapers and disappeared But where was his beard A shadow from the sky, much too big to be a bird A screaming, crashing noise louder than I've ever heard It looked like two big silver trees that somehow learned to soar Suddenly a summer breeze and a mighty lion's roar I killed a dinosaur, I killed a dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur Open the door, get on the floor Everybody kill the dinosaur

Rush/ 2112
'I lie awake, staring out at the bleakness of Megadon. City and sky become one, merging into a single plane, a vast sea of unbroken grey. The Twin Moons, just two pale orbs as they trace their way across the steely sky. I used to think I had a pretty good life here, just plugging into my machine for the day, then watching Templevision or reading a Temple Paper in the evening.
'My friend Jon always said it was nicer here than under the atmospheric domes of the Outer Planets. We have had peace since 2062, when the surviving planets were banded together under the Red Star of the Solar Federation. The less fortunate gave us a few new moons. I believed what I was told. I thought it was a good life, I thought I was happy. Then I found something that changed it all...'
[I. Overture]
And the meek shall inherit the earth...
[II. Temples of Syrinx]
...'The massive grey walls of the Temples rise from the heart of every Federation city. I have always been awed by them, to think that every single facet of every life is regulated and directed from within! Our books, our music, our work and play are all looked after by the benevolent wisdom of the priests...'
We've taken care of everything The words you read, the songs you sing The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes It's one for all and all for one We work together, common sons Never need to wonder how or why
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx Our great computers fill the hallowed halls We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx All the gifts of life are held within our walls
Look around at this world we've made Equality our stock in trade Come and join the Brotherhood of Man Oh, what a nice, contented world Let the banners be unfurled Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx Our great computers fill the hallowed halls We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx All the gifts of life are held within our walls
[III. Discovery]
'...Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in my hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful...'
'...I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound differently. As I struck the wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds and soon my own music! How different it could be from the music of the Temples! I can't wait to tell the priests about it!...'
What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it gives forth a sound It's got wires that vibrate and give music What can this thing be that I found?
See how it sings like a sad heart And joyously screams out its pain Sounds that build high like a mountain Or notes that fall gently like rain
I can't wait to share this new wonder The people will all see its light Let them all make their own music The Priests praise my name on this night
[IV. Presentation]
'...In the sudden silence as I finished playing, I looked up to a circle of grim, expressionless faces. Father Brown rose to his feet, and his somnolent voice echoed throughout the silent Temple Hall...'
'...Instead of the grateful joy that I expected, they were words of quiet rejection! Instead of praise, sullen dismissal. I watched in shock and horror as Father Brown ground my precious instrument to splinters beneath his feet...'
I know it's most unusual To come before you so But I've found an ancient miracle I thought that you should know Listen to my music And hear what it can do There's something here as strong as life I know that it will reach you
Yes, we know, it's nothing new It's just a waste of time We have no need for ancient ways The world is doing fine Another toy that helped destroy The elder race of man Forget about your silly whim It doesn't fit the plan
I can't believe you're saying These things just can't be true Our world could use this beauty Just think what we might do Listen to my music And hear what it can do There's something here as strong as life I know that it will reach you
Don't annoy us further! We have our work to do Just think about the average What use have they for you? Another toy that helped destroy The elder race of man Forget about your silly whim It doesn't fit the Plan!
[V. Oracle: The Dream]
'...I guess it was a dream, but even now it all seems so vivid to me. Clearly yet I see the beckoning hand of the oracle as he stood at the summit of the staircase...'
'...I see still the incredible beauty of the sculptured cities and the pure spirit of man revealed in the lives and works of this world. I was overwhelmed by both wonder and understanding as I saw a completely different way to life, a way that had been crushed by the Federation long ago. I saw now how meaningless life had become with the loss of all these things...'
I wandered home through the silent streets And fell into a fitful sleep Escape to realms beyond the night Dream can't you show me the light?
I stand atop a spiral stair An oracle confronts me there He leads me on light years away Through astral nights, galactic days I see the works of gifted hands That grace this strange and wondrous land I see the hand of man arise With hungry mind and open eyes
They left the planet long ago The elder race still learn and grow Their power grows with purpose strong To claim the home where they belong Home to tear the Temples down... Home to change!
[VI. Soliloquy]
'...I have not left this cave for days now, it has become my last refuge in my total despair. I have only the music of the waterfall to comfort me now. I can no longer live under the control of the Federation, but there is no other place to go. My last hope is that with my death I may pass into the world of my dream, and know peace at last.'
The sleep is still in my eyes The dream is still in my head I heave a sigh and sadly smile And lie a while in bed I wish that it might come to pass Not fade like all my dreams...
Just think of what my life might be In a world like I have seen! I don't think I can carry on Carry on this cold and empty life
My spirits are low in the depths of despair My lifeblood... ...Spills over...
[VII. The Grand Finale]
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation We have assumed control We have assumed control We have assumed control

That album kicks so much ass... Same album... No one dared to Speak of the terrible danger The hideous ancient warnings Forged in the void of night He has risen up Out of the blackness Chaos The last of the prophets Sinister A sickening monstrous sight Through the stifling heat Underneath the pale green moon I burned with a thirst To seek things not yet seen Climbing endless stairs Leading to the choking room Eager to explore His most shocking mysteries Drifting beyond all time Out of a churning sky Drawn to the beckoning light Of the dark eternal night

Same album
So much win
I saw a white light Shining there before me And walking to it I waited for the end A final vision Promising salvation A resurrection For a fallen man
Do you still wait for your god? And the symbol of your faith
I can free you from this hell and misery You should never be ashamed my son I can give you power beyond anything Trust me you will be the chosen one
I was forgotten A body scorned and broken My soul rejected Tainted by his blood
Beyond redemption A sinner not worth saving Forever taken From the one I loved
Do I still wait for my God? And the symbol of my faith
I can lead you down the path and back to life All I ask is that you worship me I can help you seek revenge and save yourself Give you life for all eternity
Servants of the fallen fight to pave the way For their savior's calling On this wicked day
Through a veil of madness With a vicious blade One man rises up Standing in their way
Redemption Redemption for humanity

@ Iron: I am glad you like this album too; I love Dream Theater as a whole - but "Systematic Chaos" is my favorite album of theirs - as is "Black Clouds and Silver Linings" and "A Dramatic Turn of Events" - though, to be honest, of all their albums they've ever put out, there's not a single bad one among the mass... Same album: Prophets of War It burns deep down inside of me / We have ourselves to blame / Not questioning, accepted as the truth. Debate this fight it's just cause / The facts do not support theirs / To liberate a people / And rid them of tyrant rule Is it time to make a change? / Are we closer than before? / Can we help them break away? / Are we profiting from war? It's time to make a change. Intrigued / Got your attention - deceived / Since the inception - our brave / Fight for what reason Compelled / Can we clean up this mess? / The loss of loved ones / A perverse request / They continue the same rhetoric / These derelicts that profit / Win or lose Is it time to make a change? / Are we closer than before? / Can we help them break away? / Are we profiting from war? It's time to make a change... Time for change / Fight the fear / Find the truth / Time for change The only thing / That I believe / Will help us see this through is faith / Pray they will forgive / Forgive our arrogance / So we can make it right / Right what they have wronged. See you sweat / Unexpected, controversial / Get used to it / Things are gonna get personal Your sympathy / A pitiful display you stutter / Your empathy / Means nothing if there is no honor Responsible / Of this you are incapable / We implicate / Incriminate - Exacerbate - Too much at stake Our Fathers, Mothers / Sisters, Brothers / Sons and Daughters / Forced / Perpetuating their ideals / A mindless act / To stay the course Is it time to make a change? / Are we closer than before? / Can we help them break away? / Are we profiting from war? Is it time to make a change? / Are we closer than before? / Can we help them break away? / Are we profiting from war? Is it time to make a change? / A change from what it's been / Can we help them break away? / Is our patience wearing thin? It's time to make a change... Time for change / Fight the fear / Find the truth / Time for change

My all-time favorite song from Dream Theater...
For a while I thought I fell asleep. Lying motionless inside a dream. Then rising suddenly, I felt a chilling breath upon me. She softly whispered in my ear. (Forsaken)
Forsaken... I have come for you tonight. Awaken... look in my eyes and take my hand. Give yourself up to me...

(Yes, I've been on a bit of an 80's Goth Rock choice recently.)
From the cradle bars Comes a beckoning voice It sends you spinning You have no choice
You hear laughter Cracking through the walls It sends you spinning You have no choice
Following the footsteps Of a rag doll dance We are entranced Spellbound
And don't forget When your elders forget To say their prayers Take them by the legs And throw them down the stairs
When you think Your toys have gone beserk It's an illusion You cannot shirk You hear laughter Cracking through the walls It sends you spinning You have no choice Following the footsteps Of a rag doll dance We are entranced Spellbound

The faunts M4 part II
I Have wondered about you Where will you be When this is through?
If all If all goes as planned Will you redeem My life again? My life again
Fire the fields, the weed is sown Water down your empty soul Wake the sea of silent hope Water down your empty soul
Fight your foes, you're not alone Holy war is on the phone Asking to please stay on hold The bleeding loss of blood runs cold
And I need you to recover Because I can't make it on my own And I need you to recover Because I can't make it on my own
I Have wondered about you Where will you be When this is through?
If all If all goes as planned Will you redeem My life again?

We're gathering, summoned by the Elder A consequence of what's imminent. A prophecy dark and foreboding Forces them to face human intent.
The Chosen seek refuge in the mountains Reluctantly their loved ones recognize The sacrifice they must adhere to The only hope for future Sentian life. Like a martyr sacrificed.
Await the Days of Clouding; Earth-Mother sharing in our pain. Erase the human memory; They know not of where they came. And though our hearts are broken, we have to wipe our tears away. In vein, they did not suffer... ten thousand strong will seize the day!
What we possess, mankind is after direct decedents of the Architect. Children of God, seeds of creation the stakes so high, we must never relent.
We'll lie in wait til human minds our clouded Initiation of our master plan. Assimilate, build new life among them; centuries will pass, patience will win. We are the bane of man!
Await the Days of Clouding; Earth-Mother sharing in our pain. Erase the human memory; They know not of where they came. And though our hearts are broken, we have to wipe our tears away. In vein, they did not suffer... ten thousand strong will seize the day!
