Elementary? It's fair. In an effort to be different, this Sherlock talks about his (past) Drug Addiction and reluctantly embraces the 12 step program, and every minute of time spent on that subplot is tedious and preachy. He's still Sherlock, though, and Snarky, observant, and socially awkward characters are enjoyable. Watson is way better than I worried she'd be. When I heard they were casting a female Watson, I assumed they were going the route of romance, and they didn't, which I appreciate. In regards to Nelsan Ellis this season, I honestly wasn't that impressed. He was ok, as a rehabilitated gang member who wants to go back in for the express purpose of taking them down. The whole season, this is his goal, and it stretches and stretches, and then he's murdered, and Sherlock & Watson solve his murder, take down the people he wanted taken down, and the people behind them in 3 short episodes. Sloppy writing.

Humanity as a whole has been greatly diminished and I argue we have come to the end of an era. Stephen Hawking died on 3/14/18 at age 76. A eulogy by a scientist who knew him well and worked with him extensively: www.theguardian.com/science/2018/mar/14/stephen-hawking-obituaryOn my end, I only have this to say. Stephen Hawking was a far stronger man than I am. His intellectual brilliance is self-evident, but even more impressive is how he not only grit his teeth and drove on despite having ALS, but wasn't bitter over it by all accounts. I would argue that that kind of strength is every bit as rare as his stunning intellect. Humanity as a whole is diminished with his loss. Somewhere in heaven, Hawking has joined Sagan, Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Einstein, Tesla, Meitner, and countless other truly brilliant people and I can't even begin to fathom the conversations they are likely having now. Thank you, Stephen, for everything you gave us.

R. Lee Ermey, actor and host of the History Channel show "Mail Call" has passed away.
I still imagine Ermey screaming at me to do a better job at work whenever I feel like I'm not going fast enough. It kind of works.
