I feel like I'm just repeating myself, but my argument against a sequel where the developers pick the ending will always be that I think its wrong for them to take away the universe that everyone built by homogenizing it. It defeats the purpose of even bothering to play the original trilogy in any way that won't result in that outcome. But then again, I'm a weird stickler for things like that. And I really just don't think that the races of ME are so...alien that people couldn't handle a game without humans. As interesting as Bioware made their cultures, the other races are not really that inhuman. They are all relatable in a lot of ways to the point that I really don't see an audience, even one that wasn't already invested in this universe being put off by them. Based on the suggestions these developers have put forth, they don't seem to think so either. More games centered around aliens than humans were suggested. Looks like we will be talking in circles it seems. It's not like I don't think you have a valid point on both counts. Because you do. It's more this notion that the fans have somehow taken so much ownership from the devs in these games that the creators are afraid to...well create. Going back to the Rachni, they were so afraid of excluding some of the fans from some of the content they rendered the whole concept of choices and consequences meaningless. That was a prime example of a dumbass move that came to us courtesy of a focus group. Basically Bioware wanted Rachni in the third game but was too chicken to take player choice properly into account. You could say that was an example of doing it wrong by picking a canon but they were doing it for the wrong reasons. As for the brainstorming ideas the devs have. I agree that more ideas without humans will be there than with. But EA has the pursestrings not Bioware and they have no imagination whatsoever. I stand by my suggestion that it is highly unlikely that Bioware will get dev funding without human characters in game. I will eat my words (with pictures even) in this thread if I am wrong on that count.

Uh, oh. This looks pretty bad. www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/127623-BioWare-Gets-a-New-BossThe guy who "As general manager at BioWare Austin, Bromberg guided the studio through the process of transitioning Star Wars: The Old Republic from a subscription-based MMO to a free-to-play model." is now in charge of Bioware as a whole. the very worst F2P model for an MMO I have heard of is a gold star on his resume. Plus his prior experience is in a game tournament business rather than game dev. EA has earned a full out esult for this. I don't see a bright side here...at all. there is no pot of TP at the end of this shitbow. I will be shocked if any further Bioware releases are worth the box they ship in with this ass monkey at the helm.

I was going to be a contrarian in this case, since I generally think all F2P models are wretched and The Old Republic sucked ass whether you paid for it or not. I was going to say that his skills in guiding a project where he'll actually have control over creative aspects have yet to be tested.
But after watching him in an interview, he seems too focused on numbers and demographics. He's not going to give a shit about giving players good storytelling, characters, or innovative gameplay. He's just going to stay the course of trying to make every game for everyone in order to maximize profits. That said, I don't see how that would make him any worse than what we already had since that's the direction Bioware was clearly headed anyway, if they weren't already there.

Strangely, I'm really enjoying TOR lately after all but writing it off last year. That doesn't change the fact that it's F2P model licks balls. Star Trek Online has a great F2P model in my opinion. You really are not missing anything as a non sub there. Any system where you can earn premium currency in game is really not all that bad.
TOR is dipping their toe into that as cartel coins can be obtained through achievements. Could be a helluva lot better but it is improving. But the model as originally executed was horrible and in many remains so.

Anybody else thinking that silence from Bioware would be more productive than these little snippets of nothing they keep dribbling out? If they have something to talk about, great. If they don't have anything to say I would think it would be better to keep hacking away in those mines until they have something to show us.
My, I'm cranky tonight.

You're not the only one. But then again, I shouldn't be cranky so much, since there's nothing in there to be cranky about.
