Meanwhile, I owe Scott Ian of Anthrax a steel-toed boot kick to the nuts for establishing nu metal (it was his idea for his band to collaborate with Public Enemy and other hip hop groups). Pity since he's one of my influences when it comes to rhythm guitiar.

*puts on flame suit*
Nu Metal is a genre that I swear to God once had potential but was rendered to utter taint due to the fact that every single band in the scene sucked massively. Being a fan of both old school style and underground hip hop, as well as many types of metal or hard rock, I really can see the formula working if everyone who formed that type of band wasn't comprised of oafish, uninspired, scenester, sellout douches.

Oh, it can work. But when you've got Bizkit, Korn, and Linkin Park as your main bands? Yeah. They suck, Gimme someone with the talent of Run D.M.C and cross them with someone like Accept and you might have something going. Of course hip hop went south with the gangsta rap bullshit.

I was going to say... well Cali pretty much covered it. I would like to think that, if Scott Ian had any inkling of just how shitty the main "nu metal" bands were going to be, he might have thought twice about teaming up with Public Enemy in the first place.

I like Linkin Park! A lot! They're one of my favorite bands! ... ;D Can't say the same for Limp Bizkit though ( *shudder*) and I can only think of three songs by Korn that I liked... And of course, I don't like so-called 'gangsta rap' at all... and am not too much a fan of hip-hop...
