Let me know what you thought! I tried to keep the gravitas of Bucky's death without losing the flow of the banter. I did not include much dialogue from Carth & Ashley, but then they don't talk much until Mars anyhow. Attachments:

JANE: (Saluting back) It doesn’t matter how many times you salute me, James, it’s never going to happen. And why are you wearing that ridiculous shirt? JAMES: It’s wash day, Commander. That's my favourite bit. One of the things that really bothered me about the opening was the phrase 'UK Headquarters'. I find it really hard to believe that the ever falling-apart United Kingdom remains a monarchy after the point where all humanity forms a single government and trades with space aliens. Anyway. Just a thing, and you reminded me. I like! Good stuff. I am actually prepared to not like this one, because I know the author doesn't like Mass Effect 3 (or its ending) very much, and I adore it. So, just a prior warning if I get sad or annoyed in future. I'm very biased against the idea of the game being made fun of by not-me. It is still always a great compliment to see things like 'Admiral BishopFromAliens' and so on being used so many years after my fic. One thing though: you say Jane dyed her hair red, but I'm pretty sure it was red in the original - both the game and the parody.

Thought about addressing that, but since this was only the prologue and we have the whole ending set in London, I thought I'd address it then.
On the contrary I loved Mass Effect 3. I didn't care for the sacrifice element of the ending, but I get it.
Didn't catch that. Thought they only made her a redhead w/ green eyes for advertising prior to release of 3. The hair thing was a reference to that.

The standard 'Jane' femshep was a green eyed redhead in all three games. She just looked older, less freckled and less... ridiculous in the first and second games. You know, she looked like she might be a 30 year old military commander a little bit more than a personal shopper.

I know these things because I almost always play as a girl in videogames where you have the option. And the standard 'Jane' was my first Shep in both the originals.

Good so far.
Quibble, dialogue has AdmiralBishopfromAliens as Admiral Hackett in a couple of points. Pretty sure he was never called Hackett at any point in the other 2 parodies.

Indeed. Keep an eye out for another nod in chapter 2. (Which will be done... soon)

Chapter 2 is here! It took me forever to pick the closing line. Originally I had "Will there be boobies?" and I just couldn't keep it. It fit John but not the story. Attachments:

My favourite part:
JANE: Just what sort of character are you? I mean, in the first game, you verged on the absurd with your sexual ambivalence / innocent schoolgirl routine; and in the second, your cameo as a revenge driven broker who minors in ominous threats was just weird; and in this game you’re an insane workaholic with a secret identity that controls whole systems. Which is it?
LIARA: That would be telling.

And the 'waitress' thing. Very good point.
