Remember how I despise Dragonforce with a passion? Here's why.
Studio version of the infamous "Through the Fire and Flames".
Live (and this is a massive improvement from 3 years ago...)

Yeah, don't they record in like 5 or 10 second bursts or something to make it possible to sound like they do in a studio?
If ya can't can't do it live then stay home. I was never really impressed with them anyway.

Never heard of them. Not overly impressed with the band name.... sounds a bit juvenile.

I was never really impressed with them anyway. I'm just tired of the fanboys who think Herman Li and Sam Totman are gods. (Right. They're faster than me, but I can play cleaner than them. It's like me being able to play like Kirk Hammett of Metallica just by playing as fast as I can while raping a wah-wah pedal.) I'll stick to Van Halen, Steve Vai, Satriani, John Petrucci, etc.

Coldplay are overhyped as hell, and also British.

Coldplay are overhyped as hell, and also British. I see a trend here. Of course Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, etc are all kick ass bands that are British as well. Also, Slash from Guns N Roses is a Brit who decided to get American citizenship. I think it's dependant upon what band we're talking about,

If you are say the Beatles are over-hyped, we really will have a problem.

If you are say the Beatles are over-hyped, we really will have a problem. I won't say that (though their fangirls are creepy as FUCK). I will say that I prefer the Rolling Stones to the Beatles, though.

The Beatles were not overhyped at all. Their influence on modern music was enormous and continues to be very powerful.
Having said that, I really don't care for their style. If I grew up with them, maybe, but I can only say I truly enjoy listening to a few of their songs. Massive talent in that band though. Paul McCartney is still a pretty damn fine musician.

I really love that particular band. To me the Beatles are almost the perfect group. They have everything I like.

Aw, I used to listen to Dragonforce quite a bit. Usually when playing World of Warcraft. =D
Certainly wouldn't mention them in the same breath as Van Halen or anyone like that, though. Speaking of which, my sister and her boyfriend went to a Van Halen concert last year. Kool and the Gang opened for them, of all bands. Everyone was really into them, apparently.

I'll go as far as to say that Yngwie Malmsteen has more soul than Dragonforce. Considering his utterly techincal and mechanical style of playing, that says something right there.

Yngwie Malmsteen can improv shred like a demon, but when you hear a song you actually wrote, you immediately start to either laugh your ass off, or reach for a bottle of absinthe to drown yourself with. They're really that hilariously bad.
Dragonforce... dear God. Guitar Hero III made them famous, and I loved listening to "Through the Fire And Flames" for like... two or three times of the course of two months. But shit, they're just so pathetic and over the top, and they try too damned hard, essentially making them the post 1990's Eddie Murphy of the Metal (sic) music scene.
They're like the Vanilla and Chocolate of the British Invasion scene. It really depends on the day for me. Then again, my taste is music is so broad I even scare the shit out of myself. This doesn't mean I encourage the shittyness of legitimately shitty bands (and even though it's most likely subjective, I still refuse to acknowledge that they're not at least in the least bit crappy).
As far as overhyped bands/artists go, I'm gonna be pretty controversial and say while I still like the guy, I just didn't feel that Michael Jackson was all that he was cracked up to be. Especially compared to all the other awesome 80's pop artists/bands that melded with R&B, Soul, and Jazz at the time. Particularly Luther (Motherfucking) Vandross, Tina Turner, and Fat Larry's Band.
EDIT: Bringing up the Beatles and Rolling Stones again, I can safely say that the Beatles remained consistently good at what they did (though I still think Let It Be is one of their weakest). The Rolling Stones were dangerously freaking awesome until 'Start Me Up' was released and they went into flair-rock rather than hard rock and early style blues rock, which they took quite a bit of a tumble. Though in 1997, they made a step forward with "Bridges to Babylon".
A very tiny step forward. I just missed the awesome raw, gritty rock n' roll style of Exile on Main Street, Let it Bleed, and Sticky Fingers.
