An open world stealth game where you play an escaped slave trying to get to the Underground Railroad. The Klan would show up late in the storyline as that one enemy type in every stealth game that can sniff out all your hiding places.

Gee that wouldn't cause a stir...

People are too sensitive. It'd be no different from a World War II game.

Well if it's a success, they'd have to make Underground Railroad: Conviction, which stars the same main character a few months or years after the first game, except that it's essentially Django Unchained, the game, complete with obcenely powerful Colt 1851 Navy revolvers with exploding hollow point musket balls forged from the bone marrow of demons, and extreme badass interrogation scenes involving dragging a dude on a horse, beating a dude nearly to death by pushing his head repeatidly into an Old Tyme piano in the middle of playing some hokey ballad in a Saloon, and shoving some slave owning cracker's arm into a cotton gin.

Gee that wouldn't cause a stir... Would it? You have a screwy country if escaping from slavery and defending yourself from the Klan would upset people.

Ugh. Nothing to do with the country and everything to do with the regrettable reality that the Klan still exists. And has some political power.

I don't think they have enough political power to stop it, but the NAACP still does. Anything involving anyone black is immediately under intense scrutiny, especially if slavery is mentioned. You'd think an escape game would interest young people and encourage them to study history more. Nope. I can see the outrage now. "Our History is not a game to be toyed with! My great grandfather died trying to obtain his freedom!"

So murdering millions of Nazi zombies in 100+ games about specifically this = fine. But fleeing slavery = trvialising history. And goodness me we don't want to upset the Klan. For crying out loud.
These must be the same idiots who complained about Django Unchained.

Clint has this one right I'm afraid.
It would be pretty cool if some mod tool were released for the Assassin's Creed games though. I would love to see some community built ideas along these lines come up.

Wasnt that the idea for AC3: Liberation?

They took AC:L as far as they dared. And for some reason killing bad nazis and bad russians and bad japanese is ok (though nowadays they are trying a little harder to come up with reasons why they're bad).
