What's "Gkadiators"? Is that for alien-themed LARPing?

FINE. I will start spell-checking.
ARE YOU ALL HAPPY NOW?

But... if you spell-check you'll take away the only form of amusement that I've had all morning.

I always wonder about that phrase. How is 'black' an insult? Or is it an old racist thing that's lost its meaning, maybe? Like 'call a spade a spade'?

I really just think it is one of those trite sayings. "This kettle which is soot black from the fire is commenting that that pot is also soot black from the fire. How Ironic."
I gots me a feeling this dates back to Europe and North American race politics has nothing to do with it's origins.

Not just North American - we had black slaves at the time too.
But yeah, good point Linders. Black is bad because it means the pot is sooty or burned? That sounds pretty good.

You're right. That's what I get for backspacing once too many.

I've never understood "Pot calling the Kettle black" to mean anything other than don't call someone something if they can attribute the same to you.

Here in cousin-diddler country, the redneck southerner version goes something like "Well ain't that the stick o' butter callin' the corn on the cob yella!"

I've never understood "Pot calling the Kettle black" to mean anything other than don't call someone something if they can attribute the same to you. Of course. But I was trying to work out why 'black' would be a mean thing to call the kettle.

I don't thin there's such thing as thinking too much.

It can be a problem if your brain won't shut off when you're trying to sleep (as I know all too well), but otherwise, no. And yes, I just laughed at your typo. I am easily amused this morning. (You'd be too if you worked third shift during the start of flu season in a health care setting. ) The phrase "explosive diarrhea" should tell you all you might care to know.
