I just got an email from one of my Kickstarters. Turns out Matthew Stover is returning to Star Wars and taking over the 501st Imperial Commando series. Ridiculously excited about that.

I'm partial to the X-Wing series by Stackpole and Alliston myself. Builds nicely on the aftermath of the movies plus the Bakura Crisis.

Stover - niiiiice.
I have quite the collection of Star Wars novels, even though the very concept of them kind of annoys me. I'm a bit of an 'Original Trilogy Only' kind of guy. To me the OT is the only thing that counts. Everything else is just legalised fanfic.
I liked the Thrawn trilogy a lot, as well as quite a few of the Clone Wars era stuff. I haven't been anywhere near a SW novel since 'Revan', which honestly wasn't that bad but really soured me.
And some of Stover's other SW work was just legendary. His novelisation of Episode 3 was the highlight. He just went ahead and straight-up re-wrote the thing so that it was really good, an ten times darker. I loved that book. Might even read it again.

I'm a Darkhorse Star Wars comic fan, and you all heard me Gospel over the awesomeness that is The Battle for Jabbiim.....BUT I love Thrawn ( and the Chiss is general). I was also a big fan of Republic Comando the game, so im hell looking forward to this..here hopes Delta Squad finds Sev.

I just finished reading my 20th Star Wars novel a couple of weeks ago. Great stuff, but I think I hit my saturation point again. >.<

Which one was the 20th? And I hear you. I've probably read that many, and at the moment I'm a bit, "Urrrgh. Lightsabers, yes. Jedi codes, evil Sith, young people's rights of passage, cocky smugglers, yeah I get it!"

I think Death Troopers was a least a bit original...aka Zombies in Star wars. I was always planning of doing a Reservoir Dogs set in Star wars...

Jedi codes, evil Sith, young people's rights of passage, cocky smugglers, yeah I get it!" It was the second book of Timothy Zahn's Hand of Thrawn Duology, which was pretty enjoyable, but not quite as strong as the original Thrawn Trilogy. But it was definitely one of the most thought-out stories I've seen come out of Star Wars this side of Darth Plagueis and Stover. I have Outbound Flight up next, since it acts as the prequel to those five books collectively. And yeah! I heard great things about Shadows of the Empire and Death Troopers. I actually used a gift card I got for Christmas on those two and a few others I found in Berkeley. Also, if you haven't read it, a "prequel" story to Shadows of the Empire came out last year called Shadow Games. Heard it's pretty dang good.

Shadows of the Empire created a hell of a stir when it hit the shelves. A lot of Lucas-bots were up in arms over a darker, gritter portrayal of the Star Wars universe. Prince Xizor was the kind of mob boss that made Michael Corleone look like an altar boy by comparison.

Well, a Star destroyer did squash like loads of his dudes back when he was a kid. Goh, I miss the Empire sometimes...so deliciously evil. Also Republic Commando was a awesome gritty Star Wars Game. I really liked how you could stab enemies with your hidden blade and blood came over your visor.

That's always a bitch with Dinsoaur mounts. You cant let them out for walkies or you get several manslaughter law suits the next day.
