I just realised that the part from the end of the 25th anniversary version, where the four Valjeans come out and sing side by side, really reminds me of the Identity Parade round from Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Is it A) Jean Valjean? B) Jeanny Vaughn? C) Jean-Claude Valjean?

What an... interesting portrayal of Javert.

I cringed and maybe even died a bit when I found out Russel Crow was cast as Javert. I think I can sing better than him. And that is truly sad.

He doesn't have the passion or the range of emotion needed to portray Javert properly; his version of Javert seems too much like the stereotypical "Overly Obsessed Cop", and has none of the emotion that would justify or indicate Javert's reasons for his unyielding honour...
Hugh Jackman, on the other hand, is awesome. Simply awesome.
And the clip of Marius and Cosette - Eddie Redmayne is going to be excellent as Marius! And I am already a fan of Amanda Seyfried as Cosette...

Yeah, that wasn't so good. Not terrible,but..... yeah. Why DID they cast him in that accursed gladiator movie anyway....
Hugh Jackman on the other hand, despite all my prejudice, was excellent there.

Gladiator was pretty good and I really enjoyed it. Robin Hood was terrible.

I'm not really impressed by Huge Ackman's version of Who Am I?
For comparison:
He's singing it way too quietly. It's like he doesn't want people to overhear it.

He doesn't want people to overhear it... that song is an inner monologue of sorts, until the final lines where he is actually talking to Javert.
In the novel, the scene that song was based on is basically Valjean sitting at the trial of his doppelganger, thinking to himself, debating in his own mind, whether to reveal himself or not - it's only when the lookalike is condemned as Valjean that his morals take over and he speaks up.
Now, to be fair, on the Stage, that song is meant to be a powerful song - so Colm Wilkinson and Alfie Boe sing it as such.
In the film version though, Valjean as played by Hugh Jackman is alone in the room, debating with himself, and so to sing it loud and operatic would be over-acting in a less than believable way.

This is less a problem with Jackman's voice and much more the director's decision to make the film more believable and dramatic, and less ficused on the songs themselves.
I don't think that's a good idea though. It's good to have the singer break his voice or speak a line here and there, but not all the way through...

Well, again to be fair, the clip was just that - a clip - we have not seen the whole movie yet; I still think it'll be amazing... I love Hugh Jackman...

That's true, it's just a clip, and I'm starting to convert to Jackman lately. He can sing.

Yay! We'll make a Jackman fan of you yet! He can sing, he can dance, he can act, and he's rather handsome... he's one of those rather rare celebrities who's got it all! ;D

He's.... decent at everything, you know? He's not a great singer, or actor. He is extremely handsome, I'll admit that. And Australian, which is worth 2x points.
