I agree with most of these; but as for the Author's Disclaimer, I have heard tell that if a Disclaimer (i.e.: I DO NOT OWN...) is not stated at the start, then the story was taken down - not sure if that's true or not; it's just what I heard - therefore I will cover my butt and post a disclaimer when I write fanfiction. Just safety and a desire to not see my fic get banned.
I must add one, that may be covered by the Bad Grammer hate - I can't STAND text-speak / chat-speak / abbreviations. For example: the infamous fic called "My Immortal", which has its own TVTropes page due to its many MANY atrocities. *shudders* I actually tried to read it, just out of a sick sick curiosity, and I was almost crying by the end of the first page from the insult to literature that poor excuse for a story made.
Edit: Corrected a typo - oh, the irony. hehe

I must add one, that may be covered by the Bad Grammer hate - I can't STAND text-speak / chat-speak / abbreviations. I hear you and while we're on the subject. I hate writer's bitch about being bitched. When I mean by that I mean in in big and bold letters that makes a statement that goes "You dun undastand! I can rite better than u. Waaaaah!" on their a/n notes or for the love of god. A whole chapter dedicated to being a sorebutt. A serious writer or artist have to take criticism like a boss and deal with it. Venting how you manage to get burnt to your friends is one thing, but venting in public like a crybaby? God, ever heard of professionalism? It helps you to move forward with your 'career' and internet fame. Use it. Besides, some of those criticism have valid reasons too. Some, not all due the nature of those comments might be someone trolling you. And unfortunately... that isn't strictly just with fan fiction writers anymore. Professional writers also had that issue. S. Meyer and David Gaider anyone?

Oh yes...David Gaider. The writing world's poster boy for how not to take criticism.

*laughing* And Stephenie Meyer - "Waah! Edward is not controlling and abusive, it's romantic how he loves Bella so much he doesn't want her to get hurt! People just don't understand!"
Now, I will admit, the Twilight Saga is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me - I have read and enjoyed the books, but I don't like the characters of Bella and Edward. I don't understand the whole Team Edward and Team Jacob thing either; because even though I can't stand Bella with Edward because he IS controlling and abusive, no matter what SMeyer thinks, I also don't like the idea of Bella with Jacob - as he deserves better than the Ultimate Mary Sue. Though, I might be Team Alice - if such a team exists - she is absolutely adorable, both in the books and in the movies...
So sometimes I wonder - why do I still like the Twilight Saga? Sheesh - I confuse myself...

Sorry for the double post, but I must say... wow - Tillian - you portrayed that A/N rather well - were you just subjected to reading such a A/N on a bad fic? If so, poor thing! And I agree completely; that is actually in part what I was referring to with the whole chat-speak - the writing "u" instead of "you", and "dun" instead of "don't", etc. It makes me cringe! It's also laziness - if you want to be a writer, my child, then you must take the time to type out the whole words. I wonder if anyone's said that in reviews on these fics?

Wait what? I was only mimicking them in my head, while turning up to eleven with the mindset of that certain film from "The Room".
Kidding. Actually it's been a while since I've run into those net speak language these days. Most of the sorebutt musings I've seen were written properly, with an occasional flowery description on why, we as a reader, could not comprehend the real meaning behind the story. Come to think of it... that's even worse. It shows that writer in the question is bratty adult who didn't act like their age, which is really sad in my personal opinion. (See the David Gaider bashing that we just did before in this page...)
While the chat speak is lazy, it's still not as bad as plagiarism, which is another pet peeve in fan fiction. Or more specifically in my case, tracing art from another source and call as your own in your fan comic. It's both unethical and lazy at the same time. A golden example of such things would be "How I became yours." Diaz traced the characters straight from the cartoon and posted on DeviantArt originally as her own. When she got called out, she became really angry and accusing them framing her... when the evidence is clear. Even worse is how those idiotic defenders tries to defend tracing art as a legitimate way to express your artistic side. I hate that. How would they feel if their best artwork was stolen away from them by some hack artist? Would they still want to defend their arguement?
Personally, I would be really pissed off if someone tries to steal any of my pictures from my DeviantArt page and call it as their own. And the word 'pissed' is an understatement.
Also that applies to cut and paste long paragraphs of a written piece as well.

Also that applies to cut and paste long paragraphs of a written piece as well. Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that one - Plagiarism - the bane of all good writers. I've never had that problem - my stories, I don't think they're good enough for anyone to want to plagiarise! ;D As for the art copying, that is rather repulsive that people would do that and then blatantly lie about it, even when faced with evidence. It's a cheat, and proves that the thief in question simply does not have the decency to think for themselves. You know, They ( whoever the oft-mentioned "They" are) say that "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", but in most cases, that's a crock. Because it is NOT flattering to have someone steal from you. It's a massive aggravator. Also, side note, have you actually seen the movie The Room? I have not, I've only seen the Nostalgia Critic's review / lambasting of it - and that was enough to terrify me! If you have seen it, is it truly as awful as his review indicates?

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that one - Plagiarism - the bane of all good writers. Or possibly the bane of any writer. It's enough to piss anyone off, really. I had a friend who showed me a fanfic excerpt that someone wanted him to beta read, and he couldn't get through it. The crazy part was this: aside from all the shitty grammar/prose/characterization and all, the story was basically a copy-paste of my friend's story with a changed romantic subplot. So... yeah.

I think your in the wrong mindset for The Room. you see...it's a wonderful, wonderful cult classic comedy thinly disguised as a drama with a bad acting Tommy Wisseau.

Well played, both of you... Oh, and also: I think your in the wrong mindset for The Room. you see...it's a wonderful, wonderful cult classic comedy thinly disguised as a drama with a bad acting Tommy Wisseau. *whining in a petulant, yet still somehow expressionless drone* I did not have the wrong mindset! This is bulls**t, I did not have the wrong mindset, I did nooooot... Oh, hai, Gorvar!
