Just to balance out the negativity in the gaming pet hates. I mean we do love the stuff with gaming that other media provides, right?
Two things:
The freedom to act like a complete dick, and I mean letting all go like running over hapless assholes in sandbox style, whenever the game provides you the opportunity.
The ability to ride dragons if the game allows you to, bonus points for the riding mechanics were smooth enough and making a joy to fly around (I'm looking at you WoW).
So what are the little things you enjoyed about gaming?

My favorite thing about gaming is picking up on a new game setting and learning all the ins and outs of the world created by the writers. Seriously. This is the reason above all others I like RPGs the most. It's part of the reason I have a hard time finishing gamers too. Once I know the setting my main pleasure in the game is done. More exploration, more culture, more lore.
I got the same thing going with books too.

The thing I'm enjoying most about Morrowind is travelling around, talking to every character on pretty much every subject.

*playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2, equipped with MP-5N+suppressor, selector set for 3 round burst; pop around the corner, three badguys at different ranges and angles, no flashbangs available since I used them all*
*Terrs w/ trollfaces* "Problem?"
Me: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU--- " "Wait... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED"
*pops out from cover, fires three bursts as fast as I get the sights aligned, three dead terrs from headshots, total elapsed time, just over 2 seconds*
ME GUSTA
Yes, I read far too many rage comics... xD

Radio stations in Grand Theft Auto and related video games.
Seriously, they're better than the ones in real life for so many reasons.

This is a good idea for a thread. Thumbs up.
I like the (many) games where you play some kind of epic hero. I just love the feeling you get as you're fighting your way to the final boss, climbing some big volcano or storming Ganon's castle or going into the Collectors' base or whatever. That moment when you're on your way to a massive confrontation.
Also in modern games, I love customisation: giving the main character a name, a style of dress, a certain personality, etc. It makes a world of difference to me, to see MY character rather than THE character at the heart of a story - even if that's just having Link wear blue instead of green, or having Mario favour the tanooki suit ;D
In Fable 2 if you wear the bandit shirt, explorer trousers and boots, sideburns and short black hair - and then you equip a steel rifle and longsword on your back, and do the manly arm pump properly - you ARE Bruce Campbell and it's awesome.

The 50's radio station in the Fallout series. I love those type of music.

Ditto Ditto Ditto Ditto. However, you should know that it was mostly 40's. And although I loved it, I realized how limited it was after a while and set it up with my itunes instead.

Hmmm... my bad. I was thinking about that one mod for the PC version for FAllout 3 where it added more songs from the 40's and the 50's, like Doris Day.
Any game that allow me to customise my character as an abino, fits well in my books.

Yeah that was awesome. But still not enough! (I listen primarily to 40's & 50's with some 60's thrown in for flavor)

The Vault Boy from the Fallout games.
Seriously, I remember looking at all the stats and perk pictures in Fallout 1 chuckling and smirking at Vault boy dressed in power armor, gambling, on a drug high, or blasting people apart.

I also loved both of those things in Fallout 3 and NV. Good call. Generally the games never thrilled me, but it was such a joy to listen to Cole Porter while I was exploring those wastes.
I also love the sense of freedom in those Bethesda games. In Fallout I felt lost, sure, but genuinely free to solve the problems in my own way.

Or, you know, killing kids... Anyway, I love Ezio's halfcape in the Assassin's Creed games. Why aren't those things fashionable nowadays? I would love to respond to stupid comments by flicking my cape over my arm and turning my back on someone!
