Gratz on your 200th post! Defending KotOR's integrity is a great way to cross the line.
On a sidenote, what freaks me out to an extreme degree are these discussions about the book on the TOR forums. I was digging around for discussions on the book, and it's insane that there's actually a very sharp divide between TOR and KotOR fans. Loads of people love the book because it has a token appearance by the Emperor in it, and they were just absolutely elated because of it.
One response, and I'm paraphrasing here, ended up sounding like this: "I liked Lord Scourge and this book. I was never a fan of Revan or the Exile anyway."

*sigh* People just don't know what they're missing.
I really hated what they did to the Exile. Really, really hated it. I almost stopped reading there but then was like, "Well, maybe when Revan gets back to the Republic, Atton will finally show up." And of course that never happened.

If the Exile had died playing pazaak in her head to keep the Emperor from overpowering her, that would've been at least a billion times better than what was on paper. Little things like that could've saved the book.

Revan's story is one of the few things I liked in the Expanded universe that has nothing to do with the Skywalkers. It's a cool story about a man/woman going through an arc from good to bad to good again, like Vader come to think of it. Besides the mask is bitching.

It's a little weird to me that anyone would have in interest in the Old Republic era which is nearly as much Bioware/Obsidian's as it is Lucas' and have no interest in the character of Revan or the Exile. Those 2 are central to the bloody story arc. Are gamers these days really that stu-...er never mind. I really don't want the answer to that question. I just got over the flu and want to be happy, not depressed.

Here's a quote from one of my super heroes, Luke Cage.
"I hold to a simple philosophy: just assume everyone's a piece of crap and then be pleasantly suprised when they're not."

Which is sad, because I always expected great things from BioWare. It's telling that one of their main selling points for ME3 is how it's more similar to their old games. =/

He does a lot of telling and not enough showing. TOR: Revan read like a wikipedia article most of the time. So the writing prose itself was cut and dry? That reminds me of James Ellroy, except Ellroy does a lot more showing, rather than telling. And his prose gave out tension, instead of tedium when reading a long ass article. I think I should finish that "American Tabloid" book instead before I'm going to go angry with that novel, especially the part where The Exiled died like a bridge dropped on her... actually having an actual bridge dropped on her would make the book more bearable, I think.

You wanted her to die like Shatner did in Star Trek: Generations? I know a LOT of Kirk fans who are still steaming bout that.

Not really, but between getting stab in the back like a wet paperbag and dying in the most awesome way, I'd choose the latter. preferably something in the likes of an epic duel or battle.
