I hated the first 2 or three seasons of Voyager. It seemed to kind of hit it's stride after that. The premise for how they got there and trapped there was a little too contrived for my liking and I had no affection whatsoever for any of the main characters until they got over their wangst at being stuck.
It got pretty good after that. And Janeway was not 1/10 the Mary Sue that Sisko was( after all she was not made into a God in a Godless universe)

I will as soon as someone explains why he is not a Gary Stu for being turned into a God in a Godless universe. QED

Because he is the goddamn Sisko that's why! dude beat Jem'Hadar soldiers with the awesomeness of his fists, survived a borg Cube attack and pretty much led the charge against the Dominion.
Did I mention he is Samual L Jackson in space?

Did I mention he is Samual L Jackson in space? *sigh* All of this awesomeness is easily explained by his being a Gary Stu. When the writer is setting out to make someone an invulnerable God, a certain amount of awesome is going to happen. Problem is, they turn the character into Mary Sue in the meantime. We're talking past each other, so I will make it point blank, he was designed to be a super character and he is not a video game character so therefore I find him uninteresting.

If you like dude, check out this below review of a Sisko episode I like, so you can see where i'm coming from. I understand your gripes with him though, but let's agree to disagree ^^ sfdebris.com/startrek/d511.asp

Watched a movie called Black Death last night. Had Sean Bean in it, which was about half the reason I watched it to begin with (as well as the other half), but this was actually a pretty disturbing film to watch for some reason. It's pretty gory (as the title suggests), but it primarily deals with the religious aspect of the Bubonic Plague.
Bean leads a group of holy warriors through plague-ridden England to investigate rumors of a necromancer poisoning the minds of a village on the far side of a forest. It's sorta like Heart of Darkness in reverse, and then it totally flips the whole thing around on you. It probably won't win any awards, but I thought it was pretty creative and got me thinking for a while.

Let me guess, he dies in this? I mean knowing Sean Bean, he dies in everything. Kinda like how Tim curry is always the bad guy.

I understand your gripes with him though, but let's agree to disagree ^^ sfdebris.com/startrek/d511.aspAlready did, it really doesn't matter though as my mind was made up on the matter the moment I saw the episode where he met the Bejoran Creators for the first time. It was really early in the series and he was already some kind of bloody super prophet. I lost interest and it was not regained until I saw the final episode. I wanted to see if I was right about what they were doing with him and sure enough he achieved God status just like I knew he would. Gary friggan Stu. I'm not saying he is as bad with it as, say Richard Rahl from Sword of Truth, but still. I get get that you like him and that's great. We have different tastes in what makes a good character. That's great too. Reading an op-ed from someone who agrees with you and not me won't change my mind. That's not how subjective opinion works. I will happily agree to disagree on this. Edit: I watched the video, or part of it at least. Another reason I don't like the character is the actor. He chews scenery like bubble gum. Not in a funny way either. I needed to be reminded of that.

Oh there is always worse when it comes to consuming scenery. To prove my point I give you Vernen Wells from Commando.
Hard to say though as Ahnald was dining on some scenery here too.

But to be fair, that's what makes Ahnald...Well Ahnald. Besides, he makes the awesome-est metal songs u.u

Well I was not even talking much about Ahnald this time. I love the guy's cheese really. But he was actually out hammed in this. It only happened one other time to my knowledge, that being in Batman and Robin.
But no one will ever top his affinity for the Bond One Liner.
