Due to having a horrendous writing funk as of late (longest I've ever gone through since high school), I thought about doing something semi-creative. An exercise if you will. I'll be putting up a timeline of events taking place in an urban fantasy universe me and some of my buddies created. It's essentially a lot like White Wolf/Vampire/Mage: The Awakening, but with a lot of things changed.
This timeline will focus on the Silver Banner (a militant mage organization comprised of battlemagi who believe in a monotheistic religion), and their Banisher Corps., their daemonslayer arm. Mostly this will focus on their conflict with the Sculptures of the Third, an organization of daemons and their worshippers who intend to use the flesh of kidnapped humans and magi to form a new deity.
If you think "This is starting to sound a lot like XCOM." then you're onto me. This is essentially based on a playthrough of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
October 4, 1987 - The existence of the Sculptures of the Third is confirmed by the Uroborus Order (Mages who harness and study the power of Hell and its magic). They are not legally required to notify The Tower (a realm of magic where the main studies and seats of power of all major mage clans convene) Council until 1990.
January 23, 1989 - In Portland, Oregon the first known abduction of unawakened humans occurs. The Silver Banner begins immediate investigation.
April 5 - 14, 1989 - A string of incidents involving kidnappings in London, England, Wellington, New Zealand, Abuja, Nigeria, and Osaka, Japan occur. This time, a few magi were kidnapped, including one member of the Silver Banner.
Febuary 1, 1990 - The Uroborus' surveillance arm, the Eye, testifies in the Tower Council, confirming and distributing all documents and reports about the Sculptures.
Febuary 4, 1990 - Three days after the Uroborus' announcement, the Silver Banner reforms the Banisher Corps. after seventeen years of disbandment. Their underground headquarters is established in an old bunker in western Lithuania, with regional continental command outposts established in Texas, Germany, Nigeria, Sumatra, Nicaragua, and Queensland.
Febuary 19, 1990 - Provisional command appoints Paladin General Innocent as commander of the corps.
Febuary 26, 1990 - The first incident of violence between a strike team of plainclothed Banishers and Sculpter kobolds occurs in an Edding AG factory located in Dortmund, Germany. Three Banishers are killed in action while two kobolds escape.
Febuary 28, 1990 - The kobolds who killed three Banishers are tracked down in a parking lot in Munich, Germany, and killed by a Banisher team.
March 1, 1990 - The armory goes under extensive changes. The Smith & Wesson Model 13 is replaced by the AMT Hardballer as the standard issue handgun of the Banisher corps. Similarly, the Barrett M82A1 replaces the Remington 700 as the corps. sniper rifle, the SPAS-12 replaced the Remington 870 as the close quarters shotgun, and the FN Minimi replaced the FN MAG. The Heckler & Koch G3 remains as the primary battle rifle.
March 2, 1990 - A mage from the Raquia Guild (secular guild who study various locations), is abducted by kobolds in Montreal, Quebec, and manages to leave her hairpin behind so she can be tracked via magic. The Banishers track her to a steakhouse during the night, killing and clearing out the kobold cell. The mage is confirmed dead.
March 3, 1990 - Further excavation of the primary bunker continues in Lithuania, with plans for construction of various facilities are laid out.
March 8, 1990 - The Uroborus Order gives information to the Silver Banner, confirming one of the leaders of the Sculptors as an American mage known only as Prominence.
March 10, 1990 - Over Bavaria, Germany, a Silver Banner operated INI Kfir fighter shoots down an unregistered Boeing cargo plane, which was transporting a corpreal daemon. After crashing ten kilometers from the Austrian border, a team is sent in, and the daemon and the surviving Sculpture retinue are slain. Two Banisher squires are among the casualties.
March 14, 1990 - The Cabalist Society (A scholars guild comprised mostly of magi of Jewish heritage), makes an urgent request that the Banisher corps assist in securing a Cabalist owned observatory in Marseilles, France after a hostile takeover by the Sculptors, and rescue some of the scholars located there. The observatory is partially destroyed by a van full of plastic explosives, though the majority of the artifacts remain intact and untouched. Despite the explosions and gunfire, there were no casualties on either side, and the Sculptors were routed. Two scholars were injured, but all of them were rescued.
March 20, 1990 - Several abductions of unawakened humans occur in Brasilia, Brazil. A team is sent in via helicopter via a docked fishing boat, and kills several Sculptor kobolds, liberating the humans and erasing their memory via spell.
(More later, if I can't write anything else)
