So as of now I'm officially putting Halo of Flies on hiatus as I go through the early chapters and do a serious re-write. It didn't take me until about halfway through what I've got written to figure out what direction I wanted to take it in so that is a factor as well as taking the overall suck out of them. On top of that, I'll be re-doing how Ian gets to the Citadel, doing more characterizing on his internal struggle with coming to grips with his situation, fixing plot holes, etc. I'll also be adding Vincent Soulshift as a full co-author because he's been doing so much to help me with the story, it seems an injustice to simply call him a Beta-reader.
Hopefully the story will be much better when we're done.

If you ask me, the earlier chapters kinda needed that. I get that Ian is a private security loner with seemingly no close friends or any real extended family (kind of like a Paramilitary Phillip J. Fry), but to adjust to so big a change just seems... implausible. But then again, it's a Sci-Fi space opera setting, so talking about plausibility would just be silly. I'll just let that be for now.
One thing that would be pretty cool, that is if Ian has any extended family he could have isolated self contained chapters where he tries to scoop up info about the fate of his friends and family back in the early 21st century. And like Fry, he could have just been in denial for an extended period of time as he was adjusting and getting a feel... but something creeps up on him. ;D
Just ideas.
